Eppie: “Football is Everything”
It’s that time of year again. Goodbye husband of mine. Welcome College football.
We were supposed to head out to Pittsburgh this Labor Day weekend to watch Pitt play, but decided that it only sounded good in theory: You know - taking Daniel and Elizabeth to a football game. In reality, it would have been pretty difficult. Fortunately, Ep already had the opportunity to go an Eagles game this this past Thursday, so hopefully that sufficed.
Three weeks ago in church we were quietly listening to some prelude music being played on the piano, when eppie started humming the Pitt Alma Mater. He stopped and asked, “Why am I singing the Pitt song? Wait, it’s being played on the piano! What hymn is this?”
That’s when very brilliant Adam Hopkins says, “That’s hymn number 46.”
Eppie turned to that page, and lo and behold, the music to the Pitt Alma Mater.
Now, every Saturday morning, when eppie triumphantly walks down the stairs with his Pitt T-shirt of the week, I will proudly play on the piano hymn number 46.
But seriously, who in the world know their college’s Alma Mater song?
My dad said to me this week that he has never met anyone who loves their college more than eppie. I asked, “Even more than Granddad (who was obsessed with Joe Paterno and Penn State)? My dad thought about it and said ”I would have to say Yes.” (That’s really bad)
Holly: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”
So, so excited about this time of year. September is unquestionably the most beautiful month of all. The holiday’s are coming up. Fall colors make me so happy. I can get out my sweaters again. Baking is way more fun in colder weather. Everything is better!!!!
I’m excited for e-dance to start again. I’ll be teaching just one tap class this year and I’ll be taking tap and hip-hop again. It’s so fun being a part of something. And Elizabethtown has the coolest people. I mean, here I grew up in Hershey, and little did I know that the little town right next door to me had some of the nicest, humblest and funnest people I would ever met.
As far as my “marathon” goal, I have till Monday, but I have 15 miles to go, which ain’t happening. For the future, I have decided to not make goals for myself that I really do not want to do. Running just doesn’t do it for me anymore. Well, not like it ever did, but I did it anyway because it was my way of feeling good about all the chocolate chip cookies I ate. I know. I’m one of those people who exercise just so that I can eat the way I want to.
Daniel: “Lucy, I’m home”
This week, Daniel has had to opportunity to dog sit Lucy, my brother’s dog. I actually asked Dan if we could watch her so that Daniel could have something to do with his broken foot. Lucy hasn’t been much entertainment, but still we love her. And Daniel never wants to give her back.
Daniel and his foot are doing just fine. He’s been enjoying all the attention, and kisses, and visits, and presents….all because of a broken foot! After a visit from Grandpop this morning, I told Daniel that maybe he should break another bone since grandpop left a whole bunch of goodies. (He laughed, but I think he seriously contemplated it).
I have Daniel in a little preschool that my friend teaches. They meet just once a week, which is perfect because Daniel is so attached to me that just getting him to this one class is very hard (Even though Bryn does a terrific job). I have also put him in hip-hop and gymnastics, which I really hopes he goes to (once his foot heals).
Elizabeth: “What terrible two’s?”
Fun, fun age. If I had to pick my favorite age so far, I would have to say two. They can talk, they understand, they don’t whine (unless they didn’t get a good nap in), and their little bodies are just so, so cute. I love it.
And I love watching her. I feel like I’m looking at her all the time. She is so different from Daniel and I’m really enjoying it. Daniel has always been so serious and so mature, so it’s nice to raise a child who is “all child.” She’s a ham and she knows it.
